Default Elite Monk Protection???

Recently I captured a skill on my w/mo called life sheath. I recognize this skill from several npc's throughout factions. What I was wondering was does this skill stop the amount of damage it says through a series of enemy attacks or does it only protect you from a single attack?

I remember the npc's would avoid several physical attacks while using it but when I captured life sheath it would only work on one attack although I had really low protection points. But when the npc's did it I would hit zeros several times. So if I were to ditch healing and put points into protection instead would this skill stop the amount of damage in several attacks or in just one?

Currently on my warrior I use vigorous spirit and mending which seem to work well with the exception of enchantment removal spells. It's not always enough but most of the time I can tank pretty good. Would I be better off using protection spells? The tactics stances just don't seem that good especially for pve, and my build is like a modified vigorous paladin build off guildwiki. But vigorous spirit just isn't enough which is why I added mending. Any advice or answers to my question would really help me out. I love playing warriors but in guild wars i've mainly played casters and rangers.

Thank you in advance.

I use it pretty often for duo farming greens, and it does exactly what it says it does, block X damage, regardless of how many hits it takes. Your protection is too low, raise it and try again, or against weaker monsters.

For normal pve situations with a warrior, various damage mitigating tactics skills are far more powerful than monk skills. Look at the non-stance defensive abilities in particular, like parry, riposte, watch yourself, etc.. Not only do they mitigate more efficiently than heals heal, but some, like glads and riposte, deal damage too. For certain farming situations, you might need healing, but otherwise, don't divert points from tactics into healing or prot.

This skill works far better on a Monk I would use Warrior Elite.
